General introduction & overview
Little Fishes Playgroup was established in 1996 by members of Aldridge Parish Church to provide pre-school provision for the local community. Though the group is affiliated to the church, we welcome all families regardless of faith. We are an inclusive group, promoting equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practices.
We meet in the Aldridge Parish Church Centre. Our premises are located in a cul de sac, next door to Cooper & Jordan school. The group was housed for 18 years in a post war pre-fabricated structure. The current building was completed in August 2014 and is used by church and community groups for a wide variety of purposes.
The “children’s suite” comprises of the main children’s room (including toilets and baby change), a hall, a small kitchen and a fenced, secure outdoor playground and garden. All indoor areas of the suite are locked to exclude other centre users when Little Fishes sessions are in progress.
We generally have four sessions, which are on Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings (9.30-12) and Monday afternoons (12.30-3). We take children from two years old and most leave us when they move to one of the local school nurseries. Occasionally we have children who stay with us until they start reception class.
Little Fishes Mission Statement
Little Fishes Playgroup is a fully inclusive group which aims to provide a safe, stimulating and happy environment where all children can develop, learn and play freely. We have high expectations within the group and through the experiences and activities at Little Fishes we aim to enable every child to reach their full potential, regardless of their ability levels. We are a Christian group affiliated to Aldridge Parish Church and welcome all children regardless of race, culture, religion, gender or ability. We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers. Every child at Little Fishes matters and is special.
